The Korean brand’s first electric SUV, the Hyundai Kona electric has been on the market in France since the summer of 2018. Since the beginning of 2021, the electric Kona is offered in a re-visited version. The aesthetic changes are minor and are mainly concentrated in the grille and optics. Inside, the new version is distinguished by its 100% digital instrumentation and the new software interface of its on-board computer.

The electric Kona is available in two versions:

A version combining a 39.2 kWh battery with a 135 hp (100 kw) electric motor capable of reaching 0 to 100 km/h in 9.3 seconds.
A version with a 64 kWh battery pack, and an engine displaying 204 hp or 150 kW. The latter goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.6 seconds.

Battery of the Hyundai Kona version : Kona 39 kWh

The Hyundai Kona electric is equipped with a 39 kWh polymer lithium-ion battery. This battery consists of 120 lithium-ion cells, divided into eight modules. Each cell has a capacity of 60 Ah and a nominal voltage of 3.6 volts. The battery weighs about 320 kg.

The battery voltage rating is 356 volts and is capable of providing a maximum power of 99 kW. The electric Kona equipped with this battery has an official range of 305 km according to the WLTP certification cycle.

The 39 kWh Kona electric battery is compatible with the 100 kW CCS Combo fast chargers, allowing you to recover up to 80% of the battery charge in about 47 minutes.

The Hyundai Kona electric is also available with a polymer lithium-ion battery with a larger capacity of 64 kWh. This battery consists of 294 lithium-ion cells, divided into ten modules. Each cell has a capacity of 60 Ah and a nominal voltage of 3.75 volts. The battery weighs about 453 kg.

The battery voltage rating is 356 volts and is capable of providing a maximum power of 100 kW. The electric Kona equipped with this battery has an official range of 484 km according to the WLTP certification cycle.

The 64 kWh Kona electric battery is also compatible with the 100 kW CCS Combo fast chargers, allowing you to recover up to 80% of the battery charge in about 47 minutes.
