Halfway between a car and a scooter, the Renault Twizy E-Tech is an ultra-compact means of transportation. With an electric motor, 2 seats, and 4 wheels, it has been on the market since March 2012. It provides additional protection and comfort compared to a scooter. Therefore, it is mainly urban young professionals who adopt the Twizy.
Versions of the Twizy
Even more convenient for these young individuals, the Twizy E-Tech exists in two versions:
- Twizy 45: limited to 45 km/h, accessible from the age of 14 and can be driven without a license. This Twizy has a power of 5 horsepower. It accelerates from 0 to 45 km/h in 10 seconds.
- Twizy 80: a car requiring a B license or a B1 license, accessible from the age of 16 and limited to 80 km/h. The power of the Twizy 80 is 17 hp. It can accelerate from 0 to 45 km/h in 6 seconds.
Both options are available in each version offered by Renault with different colors or rims:
- Life
- Intens Blanc
- Intes noir
Advantages and Disadvantages of this Two-Seater
This mini car does not go unnoticed. Its concept is unique because it has good road holding and provides a level of safety that two-wheelers do not have, and it is just as easy to park.
The Twizy E-Tech electric can be plugged into any domestic socket compliant with current standards and fully recharged in just 3 hours and 30 minutes.
However, the Twizy ZE does have some disadvantages. It is marketed without doors and windows and remains less comfortable than a car.
Depending on your daily journeys, the range of the Renault Twizy electric car is between 81 km and 98 km on a single charge, according to the WLTP standard. The actual range depends on several factors such as the type of route, air conditioning or heating, weather, gradient, and driving style. Eco-driving can increase electric range by up to 60% compared to a more “muscular” driving style.
It is important to note that the Twizy is not allowed to travel on highways. The electric vehicle and its size were designed for urban life. Its maximum speed of 80 km/h is not suitable for highway driving, which would be too dangerous.
The Price of a New Twizy
The new Life version is sold from 10,850 euros for the 17 hp electric motor and 10,150 euros for the 5 hp engine.
L’Intens blanc ou noir est à partir de 11 650 euros pour la 17 ch et 10 950 euros pour le modele 5 ch.
There are Twizys from 2012 and later available on the used market. Depending on the model and options, prices range from 4,500 to 15,000 euros. These prices are affordable, provided that the vehicle’s battery is in good condition.
Over time, the battery of each electric vehicle is expected to degrade. To ensure the health of the battery, there is a solution: Moba. We provide a reliable and independent battery certificate that provides various information about the battery. Our certificate is not yet compatible with the Twizy, but it will become so very soon, stay informed.
